Surat City: An Organ Donor City; Tea Lorry Driver Jayesh Cheripalli Gives New Life to Five People by Donating Organs

Surat : Surat city, famous as the city of textiles and diamonds, has now become known as the organ donor city in the country. In a recent incident, Jayesh Rameshbhai Cheripalli, a 36-year-old tea lorry driver, donated his kidney, liver and eyes after being declared brain dead. His donation gave new life to five people and showed a new direction to the society by spreading the fragrance of humanity.

On October 22, Jayesh felt dizzy and fell unconscious while working on his tea lorry. He was immediately admitted to the nearby Samarpan Hospital, where he underwent an MRI and was later admitted to Kiran Hospital in Surat for further treatment. On October 26, he was declared brain dead by the neurosurgeon.

Dr. Mehul Panchal, medical director of Kiran Hospital, contacted Nilesh Mandlewala, founder of Donate Life, and informed him about Jayesh's condition. The Donate Life team, along with Jayesh's elder brother Narendra, brother-in-law Balraj, and cousin Rajesh, explained the importance of organ donation and its entire process to the family.

Jayesh is survived by his wife Sonal, 28, daughter Riya, 8, and son Shyam, 6. After obtaining consent for organ donation from the family, SOTTO (State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation) was contacted. Both kidney and liver were allotted by SOTTO to Kiran Hospital, Surat.

One donated kidney was transplanted to a 16-year-old resident of Surat, the other kidney was transplanted to a 28-year-old resident of Surat, and a liver transplant was performed to a 49-year-old resident of Surat at Kiran Hospital. The donated eyes will be transplanted into two needy patients at Kiran Hospital.

Jayesh's organ donation is a testament to his selfless act of kindness and compassion. He has inspired others to consider organ donation, which can save and improve countless lives.
