Ahmedabad : The Gujarat Police have launched a crackdown on unethical activities going on under the guise of spas in the state. In the last four days, the police have raided a total of 2406 hotels and spas and arrested about 200 accused.
The police action comes after a case of a spa owner publicly beating a spa girl came to light in Ahmedabad. The incident sparked outrage and raised questions on the role of the police.
The police have registered 225 FIRs and arrested about 200 accused in the last four days. The licenses of 32 hotels and spas have also been cancelled.
The Home Department has issued strict instructions to the police to crack down on illegal spa and prostitution activities. The police department has swung into action and raided suspicious places across the state.
The police conducted 851 raids after October 18 and registered 103 cases against 152 people. Apart from this, the police arrested 105 accused and took action to cancel the licenses of 27 spas and hotels.
The crackdown on unethical activities under the guise of spas is a welcome move by the Gujarat Police. It is important to ensure that such places are not used for illegal activities.
