Gujarat Chief Minister Postpones Increase in Jantri Rate
Builders Rejoice as Implementation Delayed until April 15
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced a postponement of the recent increase in Jantri rate, bringing relief to both builders and the general public. The decision to delay the implementation of the new rate was made after discussions in the Chief Minister's office on Friday. The previous announcement was to implement the new rate on February 4, 2023, however, it will now be implemented on April 15, 2023.
The builder lobby led by CREDAI had been opposing the increase in Jantri and expressed anger over the overnight implementation announced by the state government on February 4, 2023. Meetings were held with the Chief Minister on Monday and Tuesday by various builders' associations to voice their concerns, and although the Chief Minister had given assurance to consider their demands, no solution was reached until now.
On Saturday, the Chief Minister's Office sent out an official message confirming the new implementation date, much to the delight of the builder lobby. The Chief Minister's decision to delay the implementation of the new Jantri rate was made in the larger interest of the real estate sector in the state and the general public.
The state government's decision to double the rate of Jantri had caused resentment and discontent among the builder lobby, however, with the postponement, the industry can breathe a sigh of relief.
