Surat : Khel Mahakumbh registrations extended after demand from teachers association
More students and teachers to get chance to participate in the annual sports event
The Surat District Education Officer has reopened the registration site for the annual Khel Mahakumbh after receiving a demand from the Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers Association. The deadline for registration was October 18, but the association had demanded an extension due to outstanding issues in the district.
The Khel Mahakumbh is organized by the state government to encourage students to master various sports and participate enthusiastically in sports. Along with students, common people can also participate in this Mahakumbh.
According to Surat District Sports Officer Viral Patel, 4.70 lakh entries have been received for 34 different sports, including hockey, volleyball, and table tennis. The entries include 2.90 lakh from Surat city and 1.80 lakh from rural areas.
The Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers Association had not participated in the Khel Mahakumbh and Science Fairs due to outstanding issues in the district. However, on Wednesday, the Gujarat Mahamandal withdrew the agitation. This led the association to submit a proposal to the Surat District Education Officer demanding reopening of the site so that students could participate in the Khel Mahakumbh.
The reopening of the registration site will give more students and teachers a chance to participate in the annual sports event.
