Gujarat High Court Upholds Ban on Entry of Private Buses into Ahmedabad During Daytime

New Notification Allows Buses to Enter the City from 10 pm to 8 am

The Gujarat High Court on Thursday upheld a notification by the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner banning the entry of private buses into the city from 8 am to 10 pm. The notification was challenged by private travel agencies, which argued that it would adversely affect their business.

However, the court upheld the notification, saying that it was not against the law and was in the public interest. The court also observed that the ban was necessary to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

In a recent meeting with the Travels Association, the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner and DCP Safin Hasan decided to allow private buses to enter the city from 10 pm to 8 am. The earlier notification allowed buses to enter the city from 11 pm to 7 am.

The Travels Association in Ahmedabad had demanded that buses should be allowed to enter the city from 9.30 pm to 8 am and from 1 pm to 4 pm. However, the police have not allowed this.

The ban on entry of private buses into Ahmedabad during daytime is a welcome move by the police. It will help to reduce traffic congestion and make the city roads safer for commuters.
