Surat : SGCCI Launches Mission 84 to Boost Exports from Gujarat

The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has launched Mission 84, a project to boost exports from the Gujarat region. Under this project, an online international platform will be created to connect 84,000 businessmen of South Gujarat with 84,000 businessmen doing business in different countries of the world.

SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia said that the project was inspired by the history of Surat, which was a major trading hub in the 16th and 17th centuries. "Traders from 84 countries/ports of the world used to trade with Gujarat and India," he said. "Despite the lack of technology at that time, various types of clothes and spices were exported from the port of Surat."

The online international platform will provide industrialists with information about the export promotion schemes of the Central and State Government, as well as guidance on how to increase exports. It will also connect more than 84 Chambers of Commerce of India and more than 84 Chambers of Commerce of different countries, as well as Consul Generals of 84 countries working in India and 84 ambassadors representing India abroad.

The launch of Mission 84 will coincide with the 84th Foundation Day of SGCCI on October 21, 2023. On this day, the Chamber will organize a series of events, including a C to C (Chamber to Chamber) program and a C to M (Chamber to Member) program.

The C to C program will bring together chambers of commerce from across India to exchange ideas and explore business opportunities. The C to M program will provide businessmen with information about business-industry opportunities in their respective regional areas through various chambers of commerce.

SGCCI is confident that Mission 84 will play a significant role in boosting exports from Gujarat and strengthening the Indian economy.
