Gujarat's Shramik Annapurna Yojana Serves 50 Lakh Workers in One Year

Gandhinagar, October 18: The Gujarat government's Shramik Annapurna Yojana, which provides nutritious meals to construction workers at Rs 5, has served 50 lakh workers in one year. The scheme was launched in October 2022, and has been a huge success.

Under the scheme, food is provided at 118 Kadianakas (Shramik Nukkads) in 10 districts in the state. Food is also delivered to construction sites with more than 50 workers.

The food served under the scheme consists of legume vegetable, potato and mixed vegetable, roti, rice, pickle/chilli, jaggery, and Kadhi-Khichdi every Thursday. Sukhdi or Halwa is served once a week. The government provides food to the workers at only Rs 5, giving a subsidy of Rs 37 per meal.

Workers can get food at all the centers of Annapurna with the help of labor e-Nirman card. Workers can get tiffin or one meal at the site by scanning the QR code of their card. For those beneficiaries who do not have e-Nirman card, temporary registration of construction workers takes place at the booth itself and they can get food for 15 days.

The Shramik Annapurna Yojana is a welcome initiative by the Gujarat government. It provides a much-needed relief to construction workers, who often have to work long hours and have irregular incomes. The scheme also ensures that workers get nutritious food, which is essential for their health and well-being.
