Surat : NITI Aayog Senior Advisor Anna Roy Meets SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 Team
Discuss Ways to Strengthen India's Economy, Empower Women, and Develop Surat City
SURAT: The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) organized a meeting with Anna Roy (IES), Senior Advisor, NITI Aayog, Government of India, at Samhati Building, Sarsana, Surat under SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 project under Surat Economic Forum.
Ramesh Vaghasia, President, Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Anna Royan, Senior Advisor, NITI Aayog, discussed the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 project in detail, explaining its need and importance for strengthening India's economy. Vaghasia also provided information about the online international platform to be created under the Mission 84 project to increase exports from entire India including Gujarat region under this project.
Dr. Anna Roy said that the Government of India is making efforts to empower women under the Women Entrepreneurship Programme. He said that the Government of India has more than 500 schemes to promote women empowerment and empower women. He said that under the Women Entrepreneurship Program, about 30 thousand women entrepreneurs have been registered across the country and that they will be connected with the Mission 84 project of the Chamber of Commerce.
Roy also said that four cities of the country have been selected as growth hubs by the Government of India: Surat, Mumbai, Varanasi, and Vizag. He said that efforts are being made to include Surat among the leading liveable cities of the world by the year 2047 and to make Surat a world class city. For this, he had a detailed discussion on the factors of development in various sectors of health, education and trade-industry and what kind of development should be done in Surat city in the coming year.
Abhilesh Babal of NITI Aayog team said that tourism industry can be developed in entire South Gujarat including Surat. He said that through tourism industry, women can be empowered in rural areas and local people can be provided employment. He stressed on the possibilities of making Surat an outbound tourism capital.
Chamber of Commerce Vice President Vijay Mewawala thanked everyone present in the meeting. Honorary Minister Nikhil Madrasi, Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar, Coordinator of Mission 84 Sanjay Punjabi, Project Head Paresh Bhatt, Chairman of Chamber Agriculture Committee K.B. Pipliya and Industrialists including Suresh Patel were present.
