Surat Police Gears Up for Navratri Celebrations with Micro-Planning and Anti-Romeo Squad

Surat : The Surat Police has made elaborate security arrangements for the upcoming Navratri festival, which is expected to attract large crowds. A micro-planning has been prepared, and an Anti-Romeo Squad has been formed to protect women from harassment.

Over 6,000 policemen and 50,000 CCTVs will be deployed to monitor the city during the festival. The police have also announced that the sound system will be played till 12 midnight, which is a departure from the past practice of closing the music at 10 pm.

Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar said that Surat is a big metropolis with a population of over 80 lakh, and the police is fully prepared to ensure a safe and peaceful Navratri celebration. He urged the citizens to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activity immediately.

The Anti-Romeo Squad is a team of female police officers who will be deployed in plainclothes at various locations, including garba venues and other public places. The squad will be on the lookout for men who are harassing or stalking women.

The police have also appealed to the citizens to be vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid becoming victims of crime. They advised women to avoid going out alone at night and to dress appropriately when visiting public places.
