Surat chamber organizes meet to boost trade with Vietnam
Vietnam Consul General, networking club president join Mission 84 project
An interactive meeting was organized by the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) under its Mission 84 project to explore opportunities for trade and investment with Vietnam. The meeting was attended by Vietnam's Mumbai-based Consul General Bing Quang Lee and President of Vietnam International Entrepreneurs Networking Club Dinh Vinh Cuong.
SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia gave detailed information about the Mission 84 project and discussed the need and importance of this project to strengthen the economy of India. He said that the Chamber of Commerce is going to create an online international platform under the Mission 84 project to increase exports from all over India including Gujarat region, which will connect 84,000 Indian entrepreneurs and 84,000 businessmen doing business in different countries of the world. Similarly, 84 Chambers of Commerce of India and Chambers of Commerce of 84 countries will also be brought on this online international platform.
Consul General Lee said that India is the most reliable trade partner for Vietnam. Vietnam imports industrial machinery, pharmaceuticals, metals, minerals, and agricultural products from India. Whereas India exports mobile handsets, etc. in the field of technology. He presented a complete chart giving the import-export figures of the last four-five years of Vietnam.
He expressed confidence that India will become a five trillion US dollar economy by next year 2017. He said that Vietnam is a country of young entrepreneurs and India also has the highest number of youth. Moreover, since the young generation of India is getting into business and taking up new ventures in various industries, there can be good business synergy between both India and Vietnam.
He also said that Vietnam can work as a logistics partner with India due to its strategic location. Now every day businessmen and tourists come to Vietnam by flights from India. At present, Vietnam has become a tourist and wedding destination for Indians. There are four to five wedding venues in Vietnam that do not require visas for Indians, so he requested the Chamber of Commerce to try to get a direct flight from Surat to Vietnam.
Consul General Lee said that the Mission 84 project of the Chamber of Commerce is out of the box. The entrepreneurs and businessmen who join this project will benefit in business not only in India but globally. He gladly accepted the request of the Chamber President to join the Mission 84 project and invited a delegation of businessmen from Surat led by the Chamber of Commerce to visit Vietnam.
Dinh Vinh Cuong, president of Vietnam International Entrepreneurs Networking Club, said that more than 7 thousand entrepreneurs are associated with his club, who have business relations with other countries. All these industrialists can be associated with more than 11 thousand members (industrialists) of South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the purpose of trade and industry. An interactive meeting will be arranged between Surat industrialists and Vietnamese businessmen so that various products can be exchanged with each other. For this, an MoU was signed between The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vietnam International Entrepreneurs Networking Club.
