Surat : Gold Fraud Alleged Against Dhanak Brothers, Owners of Prakash Jewellers

Retired Man Lured With 10 Grams More Gold, Loses 100 Grams

Surat : Gold Fraud Alleged Against Dhanak Brothers, Owners of Prakash Jewellers

A retired man has filed a fraud complaint against the Dhanak brothers, owners of Varachha-based Prakash Jewellers, at Singanpur police station. The man, Bharat Mavji Lakhani, alleges that he was lured into depositing 100 grams of gold biscuits at the store with the promise of getting 10 grams more gold in a year. However, when he went to the store to collect his gold in March 2023, he found that it was closed.

Lakhani says that he met Kewal Dhanak and Prakash Dhanak, owners of Prakash Jewellers, two years ago. He became a regular customer of the store and had gone there to make jewelry for his daughter Mansi's wedding. The Dhanak brothers told him about a scheme in which they would give 10 grams more gold to customers who deposited gold for a year. Lakhani was tempted by the offer and deposited 100 grams of gold biscuits in the store.

The Dhanak brothers gave him a voucher for March 14, 2023, and Lakhani went to the store to collect his gold on that date. However, he found that the store was closed. He called Prakash Dhanak and was told that the store would be reopened in August. However, Lakhani has not been able to get his gold or cash back from the Dhanak brothers.

This is not the first time that the Dhanak brothers have been accused of fraud. In May 2023, a complaint was filed against the managers of Prakash Jewellers at Varachha Police Station.

Lakhani's case is a stark reminder of the risks of investing in gold schemes offered by private jewelers. It is important to do your research and only invest with reputable companies.
