The dead body of an eight-year-old girl who went missing last Friday was found in circumstances where she was murdered. The incident has stirred the city of Rajkot, Gujarat.
Senior police officers reached the spot as soon as information about the incident was received and intensified the investigation. Preliminary information has come to light that the little girl was stoned to death. In the CCTV footage, the girl is seen roaming with a young man. Due to the high number of migrant people in the Lakshmi Nagar area of the city, it is feared that this young man is a migrant. Police have started interrogating the suspects in this incident.
Police have intensified the investigation with the help of dog squad and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
According to the information received, the girl was playing in Laxminagar area of Rajkot last night and when she suddenly went missing, the family started a search. Since the girl's missing complaint was lodged at Malviyanagar police station, the police also registered a kidnapping complaint and started efforts to find the girl. But today the police received information about the dead body of a girl in a deserted place near Bhaktinagar station in the city. Police reached the spot, took possession of the body and informed the father of the missing girl. The father identified the body as that of his daughter.
Rajkot City Zone 2 DCP Sudhirkumar Desai told the media that a complaint of a missing girl was received yesterday. After this, the father of the girl whose body was found near Bhaktinagar railway station was called and the body was identified. The body found today is that of an 8 year old girl who had gone missing yesterday. Since the girl was murdered, a case of murder has been registered and forensic post-mortem has been conducted. Further investigation has been started with the help of FSL and dog squad.
The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
