SURAT: The Surat District LCB Police have successfully apprehended two prominent gangs responsible for a series of mobile phone snatchings that have plagued the National Highway No. 48 in Surat's rural areas. The operation led to the arrest of seven individuals, with the police recovering 115 stolen mobile phones and seizing five vehicles, amounting to assets worth Rs. 10.57 lakh.
These gangs had been notoriously snatching phones from unsuspecting pedestrians and drivers along the highway. Areas near Kadodara, Kamrej, and Kosamba on the National Highway had been their primary hunting grounds.
Acting on numerous complaints from distressed citizens, the police conducted a thorough investigation. They initially nabbed three snatchers and recovered 19 phones. Further intelligence indicated another gang preparing to offload stolen phones near Kim Char Road, leading the police to capture three additional culprits and a receiver.
In addition to the seizures and arrests, the LCB police have declared four other individuals as wanted receivers.
The arrested individuals are:

- Abutalha Mohammad Mansoor, 23, Businessman, Kathor Qazi Falia, Kamrej
- Janish Natwarbhai Patel, 23, Laborer, Patel Township, Kamrej
- Rakeshbhai Rajeshbhai Rathore, 19, Laborer, Kholwad R.K. Colony Dhodiawad, Kamrej
- Yogeshbhai Kishorebhai Vasava, 35, Worker, Kholwad village, RK Colony, Lake Falia, Kamrej
- Sahil Firozbhai Ghadiali, 23, Businessman, Kholwadgam, Navu Phalia, Dolly Apartment, Kamrej
Mobile receiver in custody:
- Sikander Qasim Shaikh, 29, Businessman, Bharwad Faliya Kholwad, Kamaraj
Wanted mobile receivers are:
- Roshan Bibi Mohammad Murtuza Shaikh, Swagat Residency, Hard, Kamrej
- Mohammad Atiq Yasin Syed, Shaktinagar, Amboli, Kamrej
- Muddasar Qasim Sheikh, Bharwad Falia Kholwad, Kamrej
- Soyeb Khan Sharif Khan Pathan, Hard, Kamrej
The police, having resolved five cases in Kamrej, three in Kosamba, and two in Kadodara, continue their investigation and legal actions against the culprits.
