Bhuj - Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel officially opened the legendary Yaksh Bauntera Kakkadbhit fair at Sayra (Yaksh) in Nakhatrana tehsil, Kutch district on Monday. Renowned as "Mini Tarnetar," this event, which has been celebrated for over 1,200 years, was graced by a Chief Minister's presence for the first time.
Upon inaugurating the event, Patel honored Mahatma Gandhi and paid his respects. He addressed the attendees, lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in positioning Kutch as a tourism beacon. "If you have not seen Kutch, you have not seen anything," he remarked, emphasizing the historical and religious significance of the region.
The Chief Minister lauded the collaboration with Chhoti Gram Panchayat for the grand event, celebrating the blend of rural culture and historical significance. He further highlighted the rapid development of Kutch under Prime Minister Modi's vision, from its enhancement in the dairy industry to the development of a 30,000 MW hybrid energy park. Patel encouraged visitors to explore the Smriti Van Memorial, inspired by the Prime Minister, which has amplified Kutch's tourism.
He proudly stated that Kutch has achieved 'self-reliance' by merging its rich traditional culture with modern advancements. The historic Yaksha Lok Mela, he noted, symbolizes local job growth and the rural economy's self-sustainability.
