World Cup Cricket Match Threatened: Intense Security Measures for Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
Central and State Agencies Collaborate on Investigation Following Khalistani Terrorists' Threats
AHMEDABAD, 30 September - State and central agencies are on high alert following threats received from Khalistani terrorists targeting the upcoming World Cup cricket match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A circulating audio clip from the Khalistani group threatens to hoist their flag in the stadium during the event. Reacting to the severity of the threat, Gujarat Police have enlisted the support of central agencies, resulting in a collaborative investigation involving the NIA (National Investigation Agency), RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), and Central IB (Intelligence Bureau).
As per the news agency report, the combined force will see Ahmedabad Cyber Crime unit working closely with the country's premier investigative agencies. An FIR against Khalistani supporter Pannu has already been registered by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime. The unit's DCP, Ajit Rajian, informed the media about the collaborative approach with central investigative agencies for this case.
The provocative audio clip, purportedly from Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, announces the commencement of a "Terror World Cup" starting 5th October, implying hostile actions during the cricket match at Narendra Modi Stadium. The audio also mentions avenging the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The authenticity of the audio, which has been widely circulated by Pannu's supporters using various online IDs, is yet to be verified, though claims suggest Pannu himself released it.
An FIR has been lodged with the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch, citing threats from the Khalistani terrorist group Sikh for Justice towards the inaugural match of the World Cup Cricket at the Narendra Modi Stadium set for 5th October. This threat adds a somber note to the World Cup's opening ceremony scheduled for 4th October at the same venue, followed by the England versus New Zealand match on 5th October.
