Kutch Shores Yield 80kg Drug Haul Valued at Rs 500 Crore
ubtitle: Cocaine Identified in Seized Consignment; Local Police's Patrolling Efforts Pay Off
GANDHIDHAM, 28 September - Kutch district's coastline in Gujarat once again became the scene of a significant drug bust. Local police in Gandhidham, Kutch, celebrated a massive victory with the recovery of a staggering 80 kg of drugs, estimated to be worth Rs 500 crore. Preliminary tests by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed the seized substance to be cocaine.
The confiscated drugs were found in an unclaimed condition along Kutch's seashores. Kutch-Gandhidham police had been actively patrolling the area for several days, leading to the discovery of numerous unclaimed packets. Following suspicions, these packets underwent FSL tests and were identified as cocaine. An intense investigation is underway to determine the intended recipients of the consignment and its senders.
In recognition of their efforts, the state government and senior police officers have extended their congratulations to the Kutch Police team for this significant drug recovery.
This incident isn't an isolated one. Just days prior, the Border Security Force (BSF) unearthed packets of drugs during their patrolling activities along the Kutch coastline. Numerous attempts to smuggle drugs into Gujarat via the maritime route have been thwarted thanks to the vigilant efforts of the Indian Coast Guard, BSF, and local police units. In the past half-decade alone, drugs with an estimated value exceeding Rs 35 thousand crore have been confiscated within Gujarat's boundaries.
