Surat Rolls Out High-Tech Measures for Secure and Smooth Ganeshotsav Celebrations
Municipal Corporation and City Police Collaborate on Innovative Solutions for Ganesh Immersion
Surat — The Ganeshotsav festivities are unfolding in grandeur across the city of Surat, marked by a meticulously planned Ganesh immersion process. With the five-day Gauri Ganesh immersion currently underway, the Surat Municipal Corporation and the city police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and smooth celebration.
Artificial Ponds and Emergency Personnel
The Municipal Corporation has set up 10 artificial ponds for the Gauri Ganesh immersion, spread across all zones of the city. The authorities have also deployed a range of staff, including firemen, to handle any contingencies that may arise during the immersion process.
GPS Tracking for Larger Statues
The Surat Police have mandated the installation of GPS tracking on Ganesh statues taller than 9 feet. The GPS will enable law enforcement agencies to monitor their route, ensuring a trouble-free immersion process. "The routes have been altered in areas where metro construction is ongoing to avoid disruptions," says an official.
Enhanced Surveillance
High-level police surveillance will be maintained on the day of immersion at 20 artificial and three natural ponds. In addition to 3D mapping and high-definition cameras, drone cameras will be deployed to provide comprehensive coverage. Sensitive areas like Chowkbazar, Delhi Gate, Dakka Ghat, and Bhagal intersection will feature 360-degree high-definition cameras. Trailers and DJ playing have been prohibited during the Ganesh Visarjan Yatra to maintain order and decorum.
Surge in Online Permit Applications
The Ganesh Utsav Committee has so far received 4,324 online applications for immersion permits. Over 200 statues taller than nine feet have been erected across the city, with the tallest reaching a height of 24 feet.
Unprecedented Police Deployment
For the Ganesh immersion, the city will see a massive deployment of law enforcement agencies. Apart from local police, 5,400 city police personnel, 500 FOP, and 1,600 TRB personnel will be deployed. Special units, including 8 SRP Companies, 1 BSF Company, 1 RAF Company, 5,500 home guard jawans, 787 police officers, 5 DCPs, 10 ACPs, 30 PIs, and 60 PSIs, will also be part of the security arrangement.
The unprecedented level of planning and resource allocation for this year's Ganeshotsav reflects the city's commitment to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of its citizens during these cherished celebrations.
