Surat : Dindoli Police Prevents City Bus Conductor's Suicide Attempt Amidst Family Feud

Surat — In a life-saving intervention, Dindoli Police successfully prevented a young city bus conductor from attempting suicide, pulling him off the railway tracks just moments before a train's arrival. The incident unfolded after an emergency call alerted authorities about the desperate act. The caller was later revealed to be the young man himself, identified as Jagdish Raghunath Patil.

A Cry for Help

The first information about the suicide attempt reached the police control room from an anonymous caller, who was later identified as Jagdish. He informed the police that he was living in Ramnagar Society in Navagam, Dindoli, and was planning to end his life on the railway tracks due to harassment from his wife.

Swift Police Action

After tracing the call, PSI Harpal Singh Masani, along with PCR personnel, immediately reached the location near Dindoli Main Park. The team managed to locate Jagdish just as he was about to lay down on the tracks, thereby averting a tragedy.

Counseling and Support

After the rescue, Jagdish was brought to Dindoli Police Station, where he received counseling from PI RJ Chudasma. During the one-hour session, Chudasma emphasized the value of life and the importance of resolving familial disputes through dialogue. "Life is precious. Suicide is not the solution to any problem in family disputes. Every problem can be solved by sitting together," Chudasma said.

The police also contacted Jagdish's family, informing them of the situation and advising precautionary measures to ensure such an incident does not happen again.

A Community-wide Lesson

This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the critical role that quick interventions and mental health support play in saving lives. Commending the quick action of PI Chudasma and his team, Dindoli Police highlighted that their timely intervention had saved not just one life but potentially prevented a ripple effect of tragedy within Jagdish's family.

The Dindoli Police's efforts underline the significance of a strong community support system and efficient law enforcement in tackling mental health crises.
