Gujarat CM Celebrates International Women’s Day, Pledges to Empower Women
The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, celebrated International Women’s Day on March 5th at a state-level conference held at the Gujarat National Law University in Gandhinagar. Speaking at the event, the CM affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the respect and dignity of women in Gujarat, highlighting the state’s multiple schemes for women’s welfare, including a 23% increase in this year’s budget allocation.
Patel also acknowledged the contributions made by women in various fields, from panchayat to parliament, and commended the outstanding achievements of Banaskantha’s women pastoralists in milk production. He emphasized that International Women’s Day should not be limited to a single day but celebrated throughout the year.
The conference featured a range of activities, including honoring women entrepreneurs and activists, launching the Sakhi One Stop Center in two districts, distributing checks to beneficiaries of various government schemes, and unveiling a short film on the 181 Abhayam Helpline.
Women and Child Development Minister Bhanuben Babaria echoed the CM’s sentiments, emphasizing the government’s determination to ensure that women in Gujarat can live with pride and dignity.
