Tragic Workplace Accident Claims Life of Water Treatment Plant Worker in Surat

Surat — A tragic incident unfolded last night at Diamond Park's water treatment plant in Ichchhpore, Surat, claiming the life of 47-year-old Kirit Jariwala. While attempting to lift a pipe, Jariwala lost his footing and fell into a water tank approximately 15 to 20 feet deep. Despite immediate attempts by fellow workers to rescue him, Jariwala was declared dead upon arrival at 108 Civil hospital.

A Sudden Turn of Events

The accident occurred around 10 p.m., according to Jayesh Sagle, a coworker of the deceased. "Kiritbhai was in the process of lifting a pipe when he slipped and fell into the deep tank," said Sagle. Colleagues at the scene quickly alerted emergency services, including the fire brigade and police, but it was too late to save Jariwala.

Grieving Family Left in Shock

Jariwala is survived by his wife and two sons, who reside in the Shaitan Phalia neighborhood of Gopipura. "The family rushed to the scene as soon as they heard the devastating news this morning," said Jayesh Jariwala, the deceased's cousin and a contractor for whom Kirit had worked for three years. "He was a dedicated worker, serving both as a helper and in plant maintenance."

The unfortunate incident serves as a poignant reminder of the occupational hazards faced by workers in such industrial settings. Further investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to this fatal accident.
