Gujarat Inks Five More MoUs Ahead of 10th Vibrant Global Summit

Gandhinagar, Wednesday – As a precursor to the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled for January 2024, the state of Gujarat inked five additional Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Wednesday. Inspired and guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the latest batch of MoUs was signed in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The agreements pledge to bring a combined investment of Rs 1,095 crore to the state while potentially creating around 1,230 new jobs in the coming year.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who is steering the state's investment initiatives, emphasized the government's proactive stance in attracting capital. "Even before the commencement of the upcoming Vibrant Summit, we have taken the initiative to secure MoUs with diverse entrepreneurs," Patel stated. Since July 2023, the state government has already accrued MoUs that promise a whopping Rs 13,536 crore of investment, set to unfold in seven phases. These agreements are expected to generate approximately 50,717 employment opportunities across the state.

Industries Minister Balwant Singh Rajput, Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister K. Kailashnathan, and Additional Chief Secretaries were among the officials present during the MoU signing ceremony. Representatives from the industrial houses that are part of the MoU were also in attendance.

The MoUs signed this Wednesday encompass a wide range of sectors including packaging material production, plastics, textiles, renewable energy, and food processing plants for products like edible oil, green tea, ready-to-eat Gujarati khichdi, Desi Gir cow ghee, and honey. Special mention was made of MoUs related to 'ready to cook' product lines.

Entrepreneurs who participated in the MoU signing expressed satisfaction with the ease of obtaining all necessary permits, including land acquisition for industrial setup, thanks to the state government's facilitative approach. "All permissions are being granted seamlessly, making it easier to translate our investment plans into reality," one of the entrepreneurs noted, expressing gratitude towards the state government's commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
