Surat Municipal Corporation Holds Inaugural Brainstorming Camp for Supervisors and Technical Assistants
Training Camp Focuses on Improving Public Interaction and Skillsets Amid Instructions from State Government's Urban Development Department
Surat — In an unprecedented initiative, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) held its first-ever brainstorming camp today at the Sanjeev Kumar Auditorium. Aimed at equipping supervisors and technical assistants with improved skills and knowledge, the camp comes on the heels of a directive from the State Government's Urban Development and Urban Housing Department.
Every year, the state government organizes similar camps for officers and ministers to stimulate new ideas and strategies. This year, for the first time, employees at the supervisor and technical assistant levels were given a platform to enhance their expertise.
"The service of the Surat Municipality is intrinsically linked to the people, and the camp was an opportunity to discuss how employees should interact with citizens," said Shalini Aggarwal, Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
The agenda for the day covered a range of topics including effective ways of handling public representations and complaints. Besides customer service etiquette, the camp also aimed to provide practical training and information on a variety of subjects relevant to municipal work.
The event saw participation from key city officials including Surat Mayor Hemali Boghavala, Deputy Mayor Dinesh Jodhani, Standing Committee Chairman Paresh Patel, and ruling party leader Amitis Singh Rajput, among others. Each contributed their insights and guidance, making the training session a comprehensive learning experience for attendees.
The camp is part of a broader strategy by SMC and the State Government to professionalize and enhance the quality of municipal services, thereby aiming for a more citizen-centric approach in administrative affairs.
