Mumbai, India - The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah (The Saifee Academy) in Marol, Mumbai on February 10, 2023. Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah is the principal educational institute of the Dawoodi Bohra Community, and under the guidance of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the institute is working to protect the learning traditions and literary culture of the community.
In his address, the Prime Minister spoke of his long association with the Dawoodi Bohra Community and the continued affection they show him. He acknowledged the ability of the community to keep their relevance intact with changing times and cited Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah as a prime example.
The Prime Minister also discussed the importance of education in India and highlighted the reforms in the country's education system. He informed the audience that in the last 8 years, a record number of universities have been established and more than 260 medical colleges have come into existence. He also underlined the importance of regional languages in education and the increasing use of technology in the education system.
The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of a strong educational system and a strong industrial ecosystem for any country and pointed out the improvements in the ease of doing business in India. He highlighted the uniqueness of India's development and heritage, both physical and social, and credited this to the prosperous path of development in the country.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah in promoting education and preserving the cultural heritage of the Dawoodi Bohra Community. He encouraged everyone to visit the house where Mahatma Gandhi stayed before the Dandi event, which has been given to the government to be commemorated as a museum.
