Fugitive Arrested After 27 Years in Attempted Murder Case by Surat PCB
"Long Arm of the Law" Catches Up as Special Police Operation Nabs Absconding Criminals
Surat, India - In a remarkable instance of persistence and investigative skill, the Surat Police Control Board (PCB) has successfully apprehended an accused individual who had been on the run for 27 years. The arrest is part of a broader special operation aimed at capturing fugitives involved in serious crimes.
Doctor alias Kaka Pradhan, now 52, was originally accused of attempted murder back in 1997. A case was filed against him at the Mahidharpura police station in Surat when he was 25 years old. Following the charges, Pradhan fled to his hometown in Orissa and eluded law enforcement for nearly three decades.
The fugitive was known for his cunning tactics, managing to escape each time police teams were dispatched to Orissa to arrest him. Operating under the assumption that he was beyond the reach of the law, Pradhan continued to evade capture until recently. He was finally arrested at a Powerlooms location in the industrial area of Sachin.
Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar revealed details about the operation, saying, "We are conducting a special operation to catch fugitives involved in serious crimes. So far in 2023, we have successfully apprehended 295 absconding accused, 75 of whom have been dodging police for over a decade."
Commissioner Tomar emphasized that no matter how adept criminals may be at eluding capture, the "long arm of the law" will eventually catch up to them. This latest arrest serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the special campaign being carried out to locate and arrest individuals involved in grave criminal activities across various police stations in Surat City.
The apprehension of Pradhan underscores the perseverance of Surat's law enforcement and serves as a stark reminder that even after years of evading capture, justice has a way of catching up.
