Seven Women Caught Red-Handed; Community Reels from the Revelation

Surat Police Bust Women-Run Gambling Den in Kapodra Area

Surat — In a startling operation, the Surat Police today raided a gambling den exclusively run by women in the residential Laxmi Narayan Society, Kapodra area. Seven women were caught in the act of gambling, and a woman named Rekha has been identified as the operator of the illicit establishment.

Police Act on a Tip-Off

The Surat Police acted on credible information received about the gambling operation, which was taking place in a house near Rustam Bagh Society. A pre-planned raid was executed, culminating in the arrest of seven women, all of whom were housewives. "We have taken legal action and further investigation is underway," said a police spokesperson.

Community in Shock

Laxmi Narayan Society is predominantly inhabited by working-class families. The revelation that a gambling den had been operating within the community has left residents shocked and perturbed. "Starting a gambling house in a family-oriented society misleads the women here. We internally opposed this, and it's currently the topic of discussion among all families," said a local resident. Male members of the community were particularly astonished by the development.

Legal Proceedings and Bail

Rekha, the alleged ringleader of the gambling operation, has been detained for questioning. Meanwhile, the arrested women have been released on bail as the police continue their investigation into the matter.

The police action has highlighted concerns about illicit activities in otherwise peaceful communities and raised questions about the levels of vigilance exercised by residents in monitoring neighborhood activities.
