Gujarat Chief Minister Talks Global Opportunities and Quality Focus at SGCCI Meeting
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel discusses India's potential as an alternative to China and backs a bilateral trade agreement proposal for boosting Gujarat's exports.
Surat — Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel met with members of the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) on Thursday evening at Samhati, Sarsana, Surat. Addressing the industrialists, the Chief Minister emphasized India's golden opportunity to serve as an alternative to China in the global market. He insisted that in these competitive times, the key to success is the quality of products.
The SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84
SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia presented a substantial proposal — the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 — to the Chief Minister. The initiative aims to establish an international platform to increase exports from Gujarat by creating bilateral trade agreements worth Rs 84,000 crore. The ambitious project seeks to involve 84,000 businessmen from Gujarat and 84,000 Indian entrepreneurs operating in different countries.
Vaghasia urged Chief Minister Patel to include Mission 84 in the state's premier investment event, Vibrant Gujarat. He recommended that the project be highlighted in various conferences related to the summit and requested the inclusion of the Mission 84 brochure in the summit's materials.
State Support for International Exhibition Hall
The SGCCI President expressed his gratitude to the state government for allocating Rs 24 crore for constructing an international standard exhibition hall at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Center in Sarsana. He conducted the Khatmuhurat ceremony and sought the Chief Minister's blessings, requesting a suitable date for the exhibition hall's completion.

The meeting was attended by several dignitaries including Chamber of Commerce Vice President Vijay Mewawala, past President Himanshu Bodawala, Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar, and previous presidents Ashok Shah, Rajendra Chokhawala, and B.S. Agarwal. Also present were industrialists Mathur Sawani and Kanji Bhalada, MLAs Vinubhai Moradiya, Sandeep Desai, and Manubhai Patel, Collector Ayush Oak, and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shalini Agarwal. The meeting was moderated by Honorary Minister Nikhil Madrasi.
