Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurates a Rs 47.40 crore green facility aimed to boost civic administration and environmental conservation
Surat — In a momentous occasion marking a new chapter in Surat's infrastructure and environmental stewardship, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the newly constructed District Panchayat Building on Thursday. Located in the Vesu-Piplod area, the state-of-the-art facility comes with a price tag of Rs 47.40 crore and stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
"The government is deeply invested in creating structures that are in harmony with the environment. This building isn't just another government facility; it's a green marvel," said Patel during his inaugural address. He emphasized the responsibility of every citizen in maintaining a healthy environment, including the efficient use of resources like electricity and water.
A Beacon of Accelerated Development
Patel lauded the accelerated pace of development projects in Gujarat, citing guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Our relentless efforts aim to make sure government schemes benefit 100% of the populace. The faith that people have in the government is growing, and our development initiatives are continuously unfolding to meet this trust," he said.
Gujarat State BJP President and Navsari MP, CR Patil, highlighted the role of the Chief Minister in the flurry of development projects currently underway in Surat and South Gujarat. "Thanks to the blessings of our Chief Minister, no project lacks the necessary funding. This new Municipal Corporation building will stand as the pride of Surat and will function like a mini secretariat," he said. He also revealed plans for the PM Mitra Park, touted to be a revolutionary addition to Navsari, and called upon leaders of cooperative societies to maintain transparency and usefulness in administration.
Sustainability and Innovation
Setting itself apart from conventional government buildings, the District Panchayat Building features a unique corporate design. The six-storey structure sprawls over a 10,000 square meter plot, adjacent to Lancers Army School on Vesu Main Road, Piplod. It houses 22 different branches and offices, including an auditorium, a meeting room, a waiting room, and a multi-level parking lot capable of accommodating 200 cars and 600 bikes.
Special attention has been paid to environmental conservation, with the installation of a solar rooftop, rainwater harvesting systems, and efficient utility management. The building is also earthquake-resistant and equipped with fire safety measures. Additionally, the complex has reserved 8,400 square meters of open space for future expansion.
This state-of-the-art building represents more than a significant architectural addition to Surat; it symbolizes the government's ongoing dedication to civic development and environmental responsibility.
