Fire Erupts at Saree Printing Unit in Surat Due to Overheated AC
Nedusa Enterprises Suffers Significant Material Loss; No Injuries Reported
Surat — A blaze broke out at a digital saree printing unit, Nedusa Enterprises, located in an industrial area near Socio Circle in Surat late last night. The cause of the fire has been attributed to an overheated air conditioning unit, which led to a short circuit. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the incident resulted in significant material losses.
Upon noticing the escalating fire, local residents immediately alerted the fire control room. Fire brigades from Majura, Maan Darwaja, and Bhestan were dispatched to the scene and succeeded in controlling the fire. The paper rolls stored inside the printing unit were destroyed, amounting to a considerable financial loss for the enterprise.
The Fire Officer of Majura Fire Station clarified the sequence of events leading to the blaze. "The air conditioner installed on the wall of Nedusa Enterprises short-circuited, causing the fire to break out. Consequently, rolls of printing paper stored within the unit were consumed by the flames," the officer said.
While the material loss was significant, the timing of the fire proved fortunate as the hall where printing activities were conducted was empty at the time. No artisans or employees were present, averting a potential human tragedy. The air conditioner unit fell off the wall during the incident, further confirming that overheating of the AC was the root cause of the fire.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale for businesses relying heavily on electrical systems, underscoring the need for regular maintenance and safety checks to prevent similar mishaps.
