Gujarat Legislative Assembly Goes Digital: Monsoon Session to be Conducted Paperlessly

Gujarat, India — In a significant move toward digital transformation, the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, set to begin on September 13, will be conducted entirely paperlessly. The state government has initiated training programs for all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA), starting from this Tuesday.

Training Legislators for the Digital Era

During the inauguration of a four-day training workshop held at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Speaker Shankar Choudhary expressed his enthusiasm for the state's robust commitment to the 'One Nation One Application' initiative. "All MLAs will be fully equipped to engage in technology-based tasks via tablets. Training for this new age of legislative activities is being provided to all," said Choudhary.

Legislative Information at Fingertips

Choudhary also highlighted future plans for expanding the scope of NEVA. "We aim to digitize citizen-centric works and bring problem-solving capabilities directly to the constituents," he said. The application will serve as a comprehensive platform, enabling legislators to access all information related to legislative operations instantaneously. Furthermore, MLAs will be able to register their votes and attendance during house proceedings via the application.

Swift Rollout and Acknowledgments

Assembly Chief Whip Balkrishna Shukla announced that the Monsoon Session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is about to mark a digital milestone. He noted that training on NEVA has already commenced to ensure a seamless transition.

Chairman Shankar Chowdhary extended his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the Department of Science and Technology for their quick action in procuring the necessary tablets. He also congratulated the officers and employees of the Legislative Assembly for efficiently setting up the new digital system.

The move to digitize the assembly operations aligns with the broader objectives of enhanced governance, transparency, and environmental sustainability by minimizing paper waste. This development marks a significant stride in Gujarat's journey toward becoming a digital-first state.
