Vadodara Police Seize Truck Loaded with Liquor Disguised as Tile Boxes

Vadodara — Local authorities are tightening the noose around liquor smuggling operations, with the latest bust occurring near Golden Chowk. The Vadodara Crime Branch team intercepted a truck on suspicion of carrying a large quantity of liquor after receiving an anonymous tip.

The driver, identified as Zubair Hurmatkhan of Mewat, Haryana, initially misled police by claiming the truck was loaded with tile boxes. However, upon closer inspection, officials discovered 1,336 bottles of liquor with an estimated market value of 2.65 million INR hidden inside.

Hurmatkhan has been taken into custody for further questioning. As the investigation deepened, police learned that the liquor had been supplied by Ashfaq from Dharuhera village of Gurgaon. Authorities have declared Ashfaq as a wanted suspect in this smuggling operation.

Additionally, sources within the Vadodara police disclosed that someone had come to collect the consignment, highlighting the breadth of the operation. The total value of goods seized in this bust amounts to 22 million INR, revealing the scale of the illegal trade.

This incident underlines ongoing efforts by local and state police to curb the illegal liquor trade, which has become an increasing concern in the area.
