Gandhinagar : Tragic Electrocution Incident at Panchdev Temple Claims Life of Local Youth Leader
Tirthesh Upadhyay, Youth Vice President of Gandhinagar's Gujarat Brahmo Samaj, Dies in Fatal Accident During Laghurudra Yagya Preparations
Sector 22, City - A tragic turn of events unfolded at the renowned Panchdev Temple on Friday during preparations for the Laghurudra Yagya. Four individuals, including Tirthesh Upadhyay, the Youth Vice President of Gandhinagar's Gujarat Brahmo Samaj, were electrocuted after coming into contact with an exposed wire. Upadhyay was declared dead upon arrival at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, casting a pall over the religious festivities.
According to reports, the Brahmo Samaj was organizing the Laghu Rudri Mahayagya at the temple, and a large pavilion was constructed for the occasion. Upadhyay was part of the preliminary preparations and was at the temple to oversee the work. He was assisting in tying an iron wire for the consecration of Lord Shiva when the tragic accident occurred.
He was accompanied by Mukeshbhai Bhatt, Bhatt’s wife, and the pavilion's electrician. All three individuals were electrocuted when they touched an electric wire connected to an iron pole. In an attempt to save the lives of those around him, Upadhyay tried to throw away the entangled wires from his hand. Unfortunately, he was also electrocuted and collapsed on the spot.
The incident led to immediate chaos at the Panchdev Temple. Emergency services rushed Upadhyay to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead upon examination by the attending physicians.
The shocking incident has left the community in mourning and raised questions about the safety measures in place during such large-scale events. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
This tragic event has prompted calls for a thorough review of electrical safety protocols, especially at public gatherings and religious ceremonies, to prevent such mishaps in the future.
