South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Advocates for Subsidies and Skills Training in Meetings with Government Officials
One-on-One Meetings with Government Officials in New Delhi Result in Assurance of Subsidy Releases and Discussions on Skill Centers, Quality Control, and More
A delegation from the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, comprising Vice President Vijay Mewawala, Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar, and Deputy Secretary Paulik Desai, engaged in a series of crucial meetings with government officials in New Delhi on Tuesday.
In a detailed discussion with Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Textiles, Government of India, the pending subsidies of A-Tuff and the Stand Up India Power Tax Scheme were meticulously debated. A proposal for the early release of these subsidies was presented, and at the conclusion of the meeting, Kansal assured that all subsidies would be released soon.
Additionally, the delegation met with Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Darshanaben Zardosh, to further discuss the pending subsidy of the Stand Up India Power Tax scheme.
The delegation also attended the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) committee meeting chaired by Rohit Kansal, which included representatives from various industrial organizations nationwide.
During this meeting, Mewawala proposed the initiation of a skill center for apparel training in Surat, addressing the current limitations in garment production due to the lack of skilled labor. The Chamber of Commerce is also considering the establishment of a Common Facility Center in Surat, reflecting a comprehensive effort to enhance the local industry.
Furthermore, the representatives met Deepak Mishra, Joint Secretary, Department of Petrochemicals, discussing various Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issues. Mishra committed to holding face-to-face talks with Surat's industrialists in September regarding the quality control order of BIS.
These collaborative discussions represent a significant step forward in addressing industry concerns in Surat, ranging from pending subsidies to skill development and quality control. The active engagement of the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry with governmental figures promises a positive outlook for the region's industrial growth and development.
