Surat: In a significant operation, the Vesu police have apprehended three individuals, including a land broker and a driver, for smuggling expensive foreign brand liquor bottles from Madhya Pradesh to Surat in two luxury vehicles. The seized foreign liquor, valued at Rs 1.63 lakh, along with the two luxury cars, has brought the total worth of confiscated goods to Rs 46.88 lakh. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, with intriguing twists adding complexity to the case.
Acting on specific information, a patrol team from Vesu police conducted an operation to prevent prohibition activities. During the crackdown, land broker Manishkumar Manharsingh and driver Rajesh Morari Sharma were arrested while transporting foreign liquor from Madhya Pradesh in luxury cars. A significant quantity of foreign liquor bottles of various brands was discovered in the vehicles.
Police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 1.63 lakhs from both luxury cars and proceeded to question the accused. They learned that the liquor was intended to be supplied to other individuals in Surat, who were allegedly collecting bank EMIs for the same. A third person has also been taken into custody in connection with the case.
Further investigation by Vesu police revealed an unexpected twist: the real owners of the luxury cars were different individuals. The authorities are now probing the possibility that this smuggling operation was conducted without the knowledge of the original owners.
