SURAT - The much-anticipated Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) in Dream City, Khajod, is set to see a grand procession of diamond industrialists during the festive occasion of Dussehra. This vibrant procession, named the Kalasha Yatra, is scheduled for the 24th of October and promises a grand celebration with traditional drums and other festive elements.
An estimated 1,000 industrialists are expected to participate in the Yatra. Beginning at 9 am from the main gate of the Surat Diamond Bourse, the procession will culminate at Gate No. 2 by 9.30 am. Following the procession, participants will consecrate their offices by installing the sacred 'Kumbh Ghara'.
For this special event, the Bursa management has commenced the registration process and is ensuring all members are informed and included in the celebrations.
Further amplifying Surat's position in the global diamond industry, the SDB, touted as the world's largest diamond trading center, is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 December. This establishment houses approximately 4,500 offices, which signifies a significant shift for the Surat diamond industry. Instead of expanding operations to Mumbai or even overseas, diamond traders will now have their primary base in Surat. Industry insiders believe that this monumental shift will herald rapid growth for the diamond business in the city.
