Surat Crime Branch Exposes Fake Citizenship Racket

SURAT - A recent arrest by the Surat Crime Branch police has uncovered a web of fraudulent activities that led to a Bangladeshi youth illegally obtaining Indian citizenship using counterfeit documents. Two men from Uttar Pradesh have been arrested in connection with the case.

On July 12, 2023, acting on insider information, officers detained Mohammad Rubel Hussain from the Udhna region of Surat. Hussain, an undocumented Bangladeshi national, was found to be in possession of a forged Aadhaar card suggesting Indian citizenship. His subsequent interrogation revealed that the counterfeit documents had been procured within India.

Hussain's confessions led the police to Gausadi village in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district, the alleged hub of the illicit operation. It was here that local residents, Jamshed Alam Khan and Nafees Ahmed Pathan, were taken into custody. The duo is believed to have played an instrumental role in creating the counterfeit Aadhaar card and other fraudulent papers.

The depth of the deception became even more apparent upon further investigation. Jamshed Alam, one of the accused, is a practicing revenue lawyer in Jamshedpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He reportedly conspired with Akhil Ahmed Noor Islam Shaikh to manufacture the forged birth certificate. Following the payment of a substantial sum, Alam reached out to Anish Ahmed, an individual affiliated with public service, to finalize the fabrication of the false document.

The Surat Crime Branch police continue to delve deeper into this case, bringing to light the extent of deception and the vulnerabilities in the system.
