Union Minister Piyush Goyal Expresses Interest in SGCCI's Export Initiative

SURAT: On August 8, 2023, in New Delhi, a pivotal meeting between the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and India's Union Minister for Apparel, Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, unfolded. Led by SGCCI's President Ramesh Vaghasia, Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar, and other key members, the meeting aimed to acquaint the Minister with the strategic SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 project.

Elaborating on the project, President Vaghasia emphasized its paramount significance in elevating exports, particularly from the Gujarat region, ultimately seeking to bolster India's broader economic prowess. The ambitious initiative by the SGCCI is envisioned to foster connectivity between businesses and drive export activities from not just Surat but all across India.

Reacting to the insights shared, Minister Goyal showcased immense enthusiasm towards the project. Recognizing the potential it holds, especially in the realm of garment exports, he requested a comprehensive report detailing the project's objectives and strategies. He directed his secretary to liaise with the Chamber to ensure the report's submission. Upon its receipt, the Minister anticipates subsequent rounds of discussions to further refine and support the endeavor.
