Ahmedabad : Deceiver Fleeing with Money Promised for Tender Acquisition
Ahmedabad: A notorious imposter, identifying himself as the director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has reportedly swindled numerous victims. His most recent scam involved renting a house and disappearing with ₹1.5 crore, promising to secure a tender for the landlord. The case has been registered at the Satellite police station, where further investigations are underway.
As per sources, Jharnaben, Senior Vice President at the Navagraha Mandal office in the Satellite area, intended to lease out her employer Dr. Ravi Rao's house located in front of Vikramnagar Colony. She notified multiple agents regarding the availability. Last March, an agent named Divyang introduced her to a potential tenant named Omveer Singh.
Flashing a business card, Omveer Singh claimed to be the 'Additional Director of the Enforcement Department' under the Ministry of Finance. Falling for his deceit, Jharnaben rented out the house for 11 months at a monthly rate of ₹2 lakh. A fortnight later, Singh, capitalizing on the trust, managed to obtain ₹1.5 crore from Jharnaben's employer, Dr. Rao, promising to secure a client's tender.
After repeatedly failing to deliver on his commitment and evading communication, Singh abruptly vacated the rented house, leading Dr. Rao to realize the scam and lodge a complaint with the Satellite police. Authorities are actively investigating the matter, as the hunt for Singh intensifies.
