SURAT: In a heartwarming display of swift action and teamwork, Surat's firefighters successfully rescued an 84-year-old paralyzed man who found himself trapped in a room on the second floor of his house in Kashinagar, Udhna.
Gaman Tulsiram Bharucha, the septuagenarian in distress, was inadvertently locked inside his room, causing considerable alarm among family members and neighbors. Despite repeated attempts by the family to unlock the door, their efforts proved futile, prompting them to call the local fire department for assistance.
Upon arriving at the scene, Majura firefighters, led by Fire Officer Akshay Patel, assessed the situation. Given that the traditional entrance was inaccessible, they utilized a ladder to reach the second-floor window. Through this method, they managed to enter the room, unlock the door from the inside, and safely escort Bharucha out.
"It was a race against time, and our primary concern was the safety and well-being of the elderly gentleman. We're glad we could make a difference," remarked Patel.
The incident, which seemed to have occurred post-lunch when Bharucha retired for his afternoon nap, drew a crowd of concerned locals. The successful rescue operation stands as a testament to the efficiency and dedication of the local emergency services.
