Surat : Suspicious Death at Police Station Sparks Controversy

Surat: A shadow of doubt has been cast over the actions of the officers at Surat's Saroli police station following the mysterious death of a young man detained on grounds of triple-riding. The grieving family is demanding a thorough judicial inquiry, questioning the veracity of the police's account of events.

According to the Saroli police, three individuals were apprehended for triple-riding a motorcycle late at night. While one managed to flee the scene, the remaining two, including Sandeep Vekaria, were taken to the police station. It was there that Sandeep supposedly slipped, hit his head, and subsequently passed away, as per the police narrative.

However, the circumstances surrounding Sandeep's demise are shrouded in suspicion. Mahesh Kanani, a relative of the deceased, narrated a distressing sequence of events: After several failed attempts to contact Sandeep, a man named Sanjay answered his phone, informing the family that Sandeep had sustained injuries and was being treated at Smimmer Hospital. But, by the time they reached the hospital, Sandeep was declared dead at 9.35 a.m.

The family's immediate visit to Saroli police station revealed a different story. Officers, including the DCP, ACP, and PI, claimed that while Sandeep was in the process of removing his shoes inside the station, he slipped, causing a fatal head injury. Yet, upon examination of Sandeep's body, the family found no signs of trauma, contradicting the police's explanation.

Given the inconsistencies in the accounts and the lack of evidence of a head injury, the bereaved family is demanding access to the CCTV footage of the police station. They believe this will shed light on the true events of that fateful night and ensure justice is served in an unbiased manner.
