Gujarat's Anti-Terror Squad Unravels Al Qaeda Web in Rajkot's Soni Bazar
Rajkot/Ahmedabad : In a significant crackdown late Monday night, the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) detained three key operatives tied to the global terrorist outfit, Al Qaeda, from the bustling area of Soni Bazar in Rajkot. The arrestees, identified as Aman, Abdul Shukoor, and Saif Nawaz, were found in possession of a pistol and 10 cartridges.
Recent investigations have unveiled their roles in financing sleeper cells and extending logistical support for Al Qaeda. Hailing originally from West Bengal, the trio had been covertly operating in Rajkot's Soni Market for the past six months.
The arrest follows a recent operation in which the Gujarat ATS nabbed individuals associated with Al Qaeda of Bangladeshi origin. Their interrogation, subsequently overseen by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), provided crucial leads about the three individuals detained in Rajkot. The full scope of their activities and connections in the state are now under rigorous scrutiny.
