Massive Python Discovered in Surat Sugarcane Field

SURAT - An unexpected discovery stirred the residents of Sachin-Talangpur when a sizable python, measuring 9.8 feet in length and weighing 18.30 kg, was spotted in a sugarcane field.

Rakeshbhai, a laborer tending to the field owned by Nikubhai Desai in Talangpur village, made the startling discovery. Recognizing the urgency, he swiftly alerted the Friends of Animals Welfare Trust based in Sachin City. Under the leadership of the Trust's President, Sameer Patel, a team was dispatched, and they managed to safely secure the reptile after concerted efforts.

As news of the python's capture spread, a curious crowd soon gathered to witness the unusual find. Subsequently, Sameer Patel communicated with the RFO of the Chaurasi Tehsil Forest Department to determine the next steps. In a joint effort, the python was eventually released into the forest by both the Trust and the Forest Department.

The incident has led to speculations on how the python ended up in the village. According to the members of the Friends of Animals Welfare Trust, there have been occasional reports of python sightings by villagers, especially among the farmers and fishermen. The prevailing theory suggests that recent heavy rainfall might have carried the python to its newfound location.

Addressing the gathered crowd, the team emphasized the importance of safety when encountering unfamiliar wildlife. They clarified that pythons, though intimidating, are non-venomous and should not be harmed out of fear or ignorance. They advised residents to avoid handling unknown reptiles and to promptly inform the nearest Forest Department or the Friends of Animals Welfare Trust, ensuring both human and animal safety.
