It is said that if you want to get something, then the whole world helps you to get it. Something similar happened with Dinkal Gorkha of Vadodara as she gives a befitting reply to everyone by winning a gold medal in state Kick Boxing championship recently held in Vadodara. People were advising her not to participate in kickboxing because of a leg crushed in a freak accident. But she participated and silenced all her critics by winning the Gujarat Championship.

17 year old Dinkal Gorkha living in Vadodara is famous as Dinku Boxer. In the year 2009, she went on a trip with her mother and met with a major accident. The upper part of her left ankle got crushed and both the legs of her mother had to be amputated. The accident devastated the family but Dinkle dosen’t lose hope and started kickboxing five years ago despite having a bad crushed leg. People advised her to quit but with strong will power and self-confidence, she worked tirelessly for the state championship.

Dinkal won a gold medal in the President Cup's light Contact event in Vadodara and silenced all her critics. The victory is important for her to prove everyone wrong. “I lost half of my Sole in the accident and had to face taunts from people. But without losing heart I decided to join Kick Boxing as I see my future in this sport. With the help from my coach I get training to stand steadily and perfect my kicks with my bad leg. With sheer hard work I took part in the tournament and won gold medal. Now I am training hard for national as well as international level tournaments. My dream is to win gold in Olympic and make India, my parents and coach proud. I want to show that girls like me can play like this,” said a confident Dinkal.

Dinkal’s biggest support is her mother who raised her with lots of pain. “The accident devastated my family as I lost my both legs and Dinkal lost half of her Sole. In 2015 I lost my husband and raising two girls is not easy for me. However I don’t lose hope and instill confidence in Dinkle everytime she faces taunts from people. Now she is playing Kick Boxing and I am confident that she will make us proud one day. This time I missed but will definitely go and watch her play the game next time,” said her mother Shobha Gorkha.

Dinkal's coach Siddharth Bhaleghare said, it was physically challenging for both of us as I need to find solutions for her training due to her condition. The game is all about stand still and attack and I concentrate on to make her stand still on her bad leg and then perfect her kicks. She also trains in self defense due to frequent taunts and now can able to give befitting reply to them. She confidently passes from the initial pain and now finally playing professionally. She is very hard working and able to perform better than her competitors. She will have the potential to go a long way and bring laurels to the country. There is an atmosphere of happiness in the family on Dinkal becoming state champion. Her mother is proud of her and wishes her all the success in future.
