Revitalization Plans for Dumas Beach Underway in Surat

SURAT - Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal, accompanied by a team of officials, conducted an inspection of Dumas Beach as plans to transform the popular locale into the 'Dumas Sea Face' gains momentum.

Dumas Chopati, Surat's prime recreational spot, has been earmarked for development for several years. Despite efforts by the Surat Municipality to push forward with its vision of the Dumas Sea Face, bureaucratic obstacles, including coordination between the municipality, government, and the forest department, have led to delays. This has caused the ambitious project to remain confined within files. However, the collaboration between the Surat Municipal Corporation and the Government of Gujarat has rekindled hope and breathed new life into this endeavor.

During her visit, Commissioner Agarwal focused on various aspects of the project. Detailed conversations with officials centered around introducing amenities such as walkways, garden spaces, sculptures, and beach sports facilities. Additional plans to improve public access, including walking and seating provisions near the Dariya Ganesh Mandir at Dumas beach, were also on the agenda.

Furthermore, considering the expected increase in visitor numbers with the revamped beach, discussions also delved into the feasibility of multilevel or pay-and-use parking systems in the vicinity.

The inspection and subsequent deliberations indicate a promising transformation for Dumas Beach, aligning with the city's goal of enhancing the experience for both tourists and local residents.
