SURAT — In a swift response to theft at the bustling Udhna railway station, the Crime Branch arrested two individuals accused of stealing a laptop bag from a metro security officer. The suspects, identified as Ramji Jagdish Prasad Gupta and Chetmani alias Lalan Ramsia Saket, were apprehended in varachha while trying to offload the stolen items.
Surat, often referred to as 'Little India,' is a melting pot of cultures with people arriving from various parts of the country seeking employment. Gupta and Saket had come to the city looking for wage work. However, their theft attempt at the Udhna station led to their arrest when they were spotted trying to sell the stolen laptop and its accompanying accessories, including a charger, mouse, and bluetooth device.
Thanks to the prompt action of the Crime Branch, the case registered by the Surat Railway Police was swiftly resolved.
