SGCCI's Global Connect Mission 84 Gains Momentum with Ministry of External Affairs' Support

SURAT: The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (SGCCI) ambitious initiative, the Global Connect Mission 84, secured key support from the Ministry of External Affairs. In a meeting in New Delhi, SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia and Vice President Vijay Mewawala discussed the initiative with G.V. Srinivasan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs. The overarching aim of the mission is to enhance exports from not just Surat but the entirety of South Gujarat and beyond.

Elucidating on the mission's scope, Vaghasia briefed Srinivasan about SGCCI's recent endeavors. As part of the initiative, various international dignitaries, including Deputy High Commissioner of the UK in Ahmedabad, Steven Hickling, and Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, Ahmed Juveri Yusof, were invited to SGCCI's induction ceremony on 2 July 2023. The event facilitated direct interactions between these global representatives and Surat's business community, fostering discussions around trade.

The Global Connect Mission 84 aims to bolster business ties with 84 countries. It envisages connecting approximately 84,000 young, talented entrepreneurs both within India and across these nations. Furthermore, the mission is working towards unifying 84 Indian Chambers of Commerce and their international counterparts, thereby creating a unified platform for business interaction. This will also involve liaising with the Consul Generals of these 84 countries to provide businessmen with comprehensive insights into their respective business laws and regulations.

Responding positively to SGCCI's presentation, Srinivasan assured that the mission will receive support, especially from Indian Ambassadors stationed in Latin America and the Caribbean. He also encouraged SGCCI to consider the 'Partner India' initiative, inspired by the Ministry of Commerce's Invest India program.

Highlighting the importance of the mission, especially in the current economic scenario, Srinivasan emphasized the need for meticulous implementation. He advised SGCCI to ensure all-inclusive coordination, rallying every stakeholder to guarantee the mission's success.
