PM Modi to Receive Diamond-Studded Plane Replica in Rajkot

AHMEDABAD : As preparations are underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Gujarat starting July 27, where he is slated to inaugurate an international airport in Rajkot, local artisans have been busy crafting a unique gift to honor the occasion.

In a symbolic gesture of appreciation and celebration, the Rajkot Imitation Market Association, along with several artisans from Jasdan, have meticulously crafted a replica of a diamond-studded plane. Weighing in at around 4kg, this intricate piece required the dedicated efforts of 30 craftsmen over a span of four days.

The Imitation Market Association utilized a plethora of materials, including stone and intricate enamel workmanship, to create this detailed passenger plane replica. Additionally, they have also crafted a cargo plane and another plane, which serves as a representation of Rajkot's diverse industries. This special plane, which took approximately 500 hours to complete, uniquely integrates Patra design elements and even incorporates wood.

Reflecting on the initiative, executive member of the Imitation Association, Devraj Gadhia, mentioned, "Inaugurating an airport is a monumental occasion. We thought, what better way to honor PM Modi than by presenting him with a plane? Our artisans have passionately worked on this meenakari design, crafting a plane that spans between two and a half to three feet in length."
