Rajkot : Bibliophiles of Rajkot are in for a treat. On July 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil an expansive, three-story library in Ward No. 6 near Govind Bagh. Commissioned by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, this modern hub of knowledge sprawls across 1596 square meters and comes with a price tag of Rs 8.39 crore.

The library offers an extensive collection of 33,000 books in Gujarati, Hindi, and English, encompassing subjects from literature and philosophy to technology and science. Additionally, patrons preparing for competitive exams can benefit from dedicated reference materials, books tailored for the differently-abled, and resources for UPSC, GPSC, and higher education. Modern digital amenities, including e-books, e-journals, and an online data access catalogue, have been integrated to meet the evolving needs of readers.

Complementing the library's vast textual collection are over 200 health magazines and 20 newspapers. Additionally, users can avail themselves of services such as WiFi, e-library, a digital library, Xerox facilities, and more.

For younger readers, the library is equipped with an array of children's literature designed to stimulate imagination and cognitive growth. Over 1900 puzzles and toys, ranging from learning games and wooden puzzles to musical battery-operated toys, are available to captivate their interest. A mini theater adds to the allure, promising screenings of children's films, documentaries, and popular movies.

Moreover, the library is primed to be a hub of community activity. Events like book reviews, quiz competitions, workshops, poetry readings, and film reviews are on the cards to ensure that knowledge and entertainment go hand in hand.

The library's doors will remain open from 9.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Sundays, welcoming the public to dive into a world of literature and learning.
