A fire broke out in the Rameshwar B wing of Keshav Heights on the Althan Canal Road on Friday night. The fire quickly spread to other flats, causing panic among the residents of the 10-storey building. The fire department was informed, and nine vehicles and Turn Table Loader (TTL) were deployed to bring the fire under control. The fire was spreading rapidly, engulfing five flats on the second floor. However, the fire department managed to control the fire after an hour and a half of hard work.
Eleven senior citizens and one pregnant woman were rescued safely by the fire brigade, who launched a rescue operation to bring the trapped families out of the building. While the families were gathered on the terrace by the firefighters, the jawans took them to safety. Two people were slightly injured by shards of glass from shattered third-floor windows. An old man's leg was broken on the third floor, and the fire department personnel brought him down.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire department is investigating the incident.
