Deepchand Chowdhary Elected as FOSTTA Director, Pledges to Address Challenges in Moti Begumwadi's Textile Business

SURAT: Deepchand Chowdhary, an influential figure in the textile sector and a long-time FOSTTA voter, has emerged victorious in his maiden attempt at the FOSTTA elections, marking his entry as a FOSTTA director. Representing both the Tirupati and Hariom Textile Markets, Chowdhary had been actively working with the FOSTTA Task Force for years despite not being an official member.

His decision to plunge into the elections was inspired by Sanwar Prasad Budhia, chairman of the Saket Group, who encouraged him to take an active leadership role in textile business matters.

Chowdhary, a prominent figure in the textile business community, currently helms the Hariom Textile Market Association and is an integral part of the Executive Committee at Tirupati Textile Market. His leadership roles extend beyond the textile sector, with him being the President of Anjana Patel Samaj and a founding member of Anjana Kelavani Mandal, among other affiliations. A graduate in Commerce, his association with the Hariom Textile Market is noteworthy, leading it as president for the past 12 years.

A native of Samdadi village in Rajasthan's Barmer district, Chowdhary's journey to Surat in 1984 began with humble beginnings at an STM shop. By 1992, through perseverance and dedication, he launched his own clothing business. Today, he stands tall as a leading textile businessman with establishments in both Hariom and Tirupati Textile Markets.

Addressing Moti Begumwadi's challenges, Chowdhary highlighted that several key issues have been resolved, including revamping gutter lines, street light installations, road construction, and easing traffic congestions. However, he pointed to the "Ashat Dhara" in Moti Begumwadi area as a persistent obstacle hindering textile business growth, especially regarding the Vera bill transfer issue.

The primary concern lies with properties built on the Dawoodi Bohra Samaj Trust land, where traders hold possession receipts but are plagued by the continuous relocation of parties, disrupting business continuity. To alleviate this, Chowdhary mentioned the introduction of the Arbitration Act by FOSTTA, aiming to streamline payments and ensure a stable business environment for traders.
