Gujarat : G-20 Summit's Infrastructure Investors Dialogue Held in Gift City - A Stepping Stone Towards Economic Prosperity

GANDHINAGAR  - Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel opened the G-20 Summit's Infrastructure Investors Dialogue on July 16th in India's first International Finance Service Center (IFSC), Gift City. During the session, Patel underscored the essential role of infrastructure investment in fostering a country's growth and prosperity.

Patel asserted that environmental stability, social development, and economic growth must all accompany meaningful investment opportunities. The GIFT campus, he mentioned, is achieving the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by serving as an International Discussion Platform for the first time.

In his vision to transform Gujarat into a major business and financial hub, Patel stressed that the state's healthy track record of receiving substantial foreign direct investment (FDI) over the past few decades attests to the global business community's confidence in Gujarat. In the fiscal year 2022-23 alone, the state drew in over $4.7 billion in FDI, thanks to its world-class business ecosystem, which boasts mobility, entrepreneurship, a skilled workforce, and a conducive business environment.

Patel also celebrated Gujarat's fiscal accomplishments, pointing out that prudent financial management has led to substantial success in achieving fiscal targets in a range of sectors, from economic development to environmental conservation. He proudly revealed that Gujarat's fiscal deficit for the fiscal year 2021-22 was less than 1.16 percent of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Furthermore, the budget outlay saw a 23 percent increase this year, with a staggering 92 percent rise in capital expenditure compared to the previous budget.

During the Summit, Patel invited delegates to explore the extensive opportunities in GIFT City and attend the upcoming Vibrant-2024 event.

The G-20 Summit's Infrastructure Investors Dialogue was hosted in GIFT City, where Chairman Hasmukh Adhia offered a warm welcome to all delegates. Adhia lauded Gujarat's innovation in building world-class planned green cities, using the capital city of Gandhinagar as a prime example. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation in overcoming global economic challenges and hailed GIFT City as an emerging global investment destination in sectors such as banking, insurance, foreign university, ship leasing, and more.

Chief Secretary Rajkumar addressed sustainable development as not just a global aspiration but a responsibility. He emphasized the state government's commitment to incorporating crucial issues like sustainability, green energy, and conservation of natural resources into town planning. At the seminar, various dignitaries and international delegates discussed topics like increasing institutional investment in resilient, sustainable infrastructure, enhancing sustainable investment for future urban growth, and planning for sustainable infrastructure development.
